Prosecutors delay decision on Srisuwan extortion case

The verdict on whether to prosecute famous applicant Srisuwan Janya, past red-shirt advocate Yoswaris Chuklom, and three others over the alleged bribery of the Rice Department mind has been delayed until August 28.

The Office of the Attorney-General was informed on Thursday by top prosecutor Rachata Phanomwan, mind of the staff handling the bribery case against Mr. Srisuwan and his four alleged accomplices, that the situation was still being looked into and not yet finished, according to OAG official Prayut Phetcharakhun.

The trial team made the decision to postpone a determination on the case until August 28, according to Mr. Prayut.

On Thursday, Mr Srisuwan, Mr Yosawis, alias Jeng Dokjik, and the three reported accomplices arrived at the OAG to discover the lawyers ‘ choice.

Mr. Srisuwan claimed that he was unaware of the claims against him that he may face. He was informed from media reports that he would encounter six costs, but four were allegedly brought against him by officers researchers.

Over the past month, he had not consulted with the other suspects, particularly Mr Yoswaris, whom he had just met once before. Ms Phimnattha was a former MP candidate for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart ( United Thai Nation ) Party, part of the governing coalition, while Mr Yoswaris, led the Ruam Chai Rak Chat ( United Love for the Nation ) movement and served on a civil service working group appointed by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, the UTN leader.

Mr. Yoswaris claimed he was informed that he would face charges totaling six. He had requested that his attorney file a petition asking the prosecution to grant him fairness. He defended his innocence and expressed trust in the proof he had to refute the allegations.

After the prosecution discovered no indications that the suspects did escape, all defendants were temporarily released. On August 28, all were requested to turn in their reports to the prosecution.

The Crime Suppression Division had before submitted the case report to the magistrates on July 16 for consideration. During the policeman investigation, all were released.
