Following the introduction of the 20-baht survive cover more than a year ago, the Transport Ministry reported a 12.28 % increase in profits for the Red and Purple ranges.
To encourage more riders to use public transportation, the Red and Purple lines ‘ fare cap was introduced in October 2023.
” Both lines reported a combined income of 49.91 million baht at the end of last year, an increase of 12.28 % from the 44.45 million baht reported in the same period the previous year”, said Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit.
He claimed that the Red Line had an income of 15.97 million baht prior to the introduction of the 20-baht seal, using data from the Department of Rail Transport. After the cover was introduced, income rose to 20.04 million baht next season, an increase of 25.48 %. The number of people also increased by 24.88 % to 1, 027, 458 last month.
The Red Line, move by the State Railway of Thailand, consists of two roads. The main train is connected to Taling Chan in the Thon Buri district by the northern route, while Rangsit is connected to Rangsit by the southern path.
The Bang Phlat district’s Tao Poon train is connected by the Purple Line, which is operated by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority.
He said the money of the Purple Line went away from 28.48 million baht in 2023 to 29.87 million baht next season, an increase of 4.8 %. The number of people increased by 4.89 % to 2, 026, 981 people next year.
” Combined, the two electric train lines served a total of 3, 054, 439 passengers last year, an increase of 10.86 % from the same period in 2023″, he said.
Mr. Suriya referred to the increase in customers as” a fine signal” that the agency’s effort to lower the cost of living in the capital is effective.
” Furthermore, when the number of passengers goes up, profitability also increases, which means the government ‘ won’t have to pay as much in compensation]to the lines ‘ operators ] for operational losses”, he said. He claimed the ministry is convinced that the policy will be extended to other energy teach lines by September of this year.
