The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday ( Nov 9 ) that all nine private hospitals in Singapore will soon publish patient health records to ensure better continuity of care among healthcare providers.
The National Electronic Health Record ( NEHR ) system, which was introduced in 2011, serves as a centralised repository for essential health data such as diagnoses, medications, allergies and laboratory reports.  ,
People are less likely to have their health histories re-examined with or have their tests done in-person.
In Singapore, public clinics, which handle 90 % of the acute hospital task, are already using NEHR, along with primary care providers like polyclinics and common practice clinics as part of the Healthier SG program.
According to the ministry,” all private hospitals have now fully committed to working with the Ministry of Health ( MOH) and Synapxe to ensure that their hospital management systems are ready to be integrated with NEHR and contribute health information in 2025.”
The federal health technology firm is Synapxe.
To prevent individual data, medical providers contributing to or viewing NEHR must join a “robust” set of security and data protection requirements, said MOH.
The department added that this includes making sure that security incidents and data breaches are reported on strict terms as well as regular and timely updates of systems and software, training staff with best practices for cyberhygiene, and other things.
