PETALING JAYA: The Prisons Dept has slammed a piece of fake news that is currently circulating WhatsApp groups and social media platforms like wildfire.
It is a screenshot of a message alleging that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is not in a jail cell, but instead was “given a house within the prison grounds”.

The two-part message that went viral contains the claim that these houses are “meant for senior prison officers” and cited the source of the information as “a good friend whose cousin is a senior prison officer at Kajang”.
In their rebuttal, the Prisons Dept issued a short but stern statement on its official Facebook page on Wednesday (Sept 7).
