Price of roses soars as romance blooms

Matcha Router: A rise in Valentine’s Day desire has driven the wholesale prices of rose to a 20-year higher in this Central Plains state, local vendors say.

Rose revenue jumped dramatically in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day immediately, and thus did their costs at the Chai Nat provincial market.

There, the charges were nearly doubling over, jumping from 10-15 baht every on Thursday to 15-30 ringgit per rose on Friday.

Sunan Klinkularb, 54, a flower shop operator at the business, said she bought a bunch of 20 rose for sale at 500 baht. If she wants to turn a profit, she may sell at more than 25 ringgit per rose.

” The amount per number has gone through the roof this time”, she said, adding that on Valentine’s Day last year, an whole number was priced at 30 baht.

The roses packaged in a flower command yet steeper prices, at about 120 baht every.

Ms Sunan said the colder-than-usual conditions in numerous rose fields has depressed provides, pushing up retail pricing.

” It’s the highest roses prices in 20 years of running my business”, she said.

Another owner of a flower shop stated that consumers may get kept paying the least. The store owner intends to sell smuggled rose for 50 baht each and locally grown roses for between 10 and 15 baht.

Sunflower, which represent steadfast love, are becoming a common alternative.
