‘Present leadership to the next’: Singapore, Indonesia ‘committed’ to continuity in bilateral ties

Speaking at the press conference, Mr Lee also paid tribute to Mr Jokowi, describing him as having put Indonesia on a strong economic trajectory with his vision and leadership, as well as having raised the standing of the&nbsp, Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ) as&nbsp, a participant in international affairs.

” This has brought stability and progress throughout the whole place.” Indonesia is ASEAN’s largest market. When Indonesia thrives, the place thrives”, he said.

Mr. Lee also noted that under Mr. Jokowi, Indonesia has been” a creative message in a divided globe,” and that he was grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him throughout these years.

The sixth Singapore- Indonesia Leaders ‘ Retreat was attended by Mr. Jokowi, who made his remarks during the combined press conference in Bahasa Indonesia.

He noted that both leaders had discussions on a range of topics, including those involving politics and the military, to ensure the three agreements ‘ continued smooth implementation under the name” the  Expanded Framework.”

Possible financial cooperation, such as the creation of an IT infrastructure and a files center in Nongsa, Batam, as well as business and technology exchanges, as well as social and cultural exchanges, were also discussed.

Both leaders also exchanged opinions on regional and global improvements, including the condition in the Middle East&nbsp, and the need to improve” ASEAN centrality”.

The overall emphasis of the ASEAN centrality concept is that the group must become the region’s dominant platform to defeat shared challenges and engage with foreign powers.

Mr. Jokowi met with Mr. Lee before that day at Istana Bogor, one of the six presidential buildings in Indonesia, where he signed a guestbook before meeting with the Indonesian head.

For this excursion, Mr Lee is accompanied by eight members of the Cabinet.

Another ministers traveling include Tan See Leng, the head of the department’s human resources department, the head of the department’s finance ministry, and vice minister of national security, Ng Eng Hean, the head of foreign affairs, Chan Chun Sing, the head of cultural and family development, Masagos Zulkifli, the health minister Ong Ye Kung, and the head of the department’s labor ministry, Teo Chee Hean.
