Palang Pracharath Party ( PPRP ) leader Gen Prawit Wongsuwon correctly submitted leave requests and received approval from the House of Representatives, according to the House’s secretary-general Arpath Sukhanunth.
After previous Pheu Thai Party official Prompong Nopparit demanded an exploration into Gen Prawit’s repeated absences from conferences at parliament, Mr. Arpath clarified the issue.
Mr Prompong claimed Gen Prawit was often seen at for assemblies, raising questions about whether the PPRP head, as a group list MP, has fulfilled his legal and ethical responsibilities.
According to the House’s secretary-general, MPs may send a left request form up to seven days posthumously, and Gen Prawit submitted a keep request every single time, which Deputy House Speaker Pichet Chuamuangphan approved.
Thin Muhamad Noor Matha, the speaker of the House, has given Mr. Pichet the task of handling the Members ‘ requests for left.
” ]By properly following the procedures ] Gen Prawit is not considered to have skipped the meetings”, he said.
Under the law, MPs may be excluded from meetings for no more than a quarter ( 30 days ) of the entire conference days in a program, which consists of 120 days.
But, the House secretary-general said the complaint against Gen Prawit may be processed according to political processes.
He added that since the information is regarded as people, the people may ask MPs ‘ attendance records from the House’s information business or via its webpage. However, they will not be given access to the MPs ‘ reasons for leave.
Wisuth Chainarun, the head of state, said he will ask the House Speaker to check each MP’s attendance record next week to make sure they are performing their duties as required.
” This matter is n’t politically motivated. MPs have a duty to do their jobs, and going away from meetings is not up to their professional standards, he said.
He insisted that other MPs, not just Gen Prawit, would also face investigation.
” MPs must fulfil their responsibilities, and being absent from meetings does not reflect their professional ethics. This is n’t a campaign season”, he said.
Gen Prawit did not attend the Sept 19 House meeting. He and some party MPs were in Nong Khai at the time, distributing supplies to flood victims.
