Police to nab macau888 ‘Big’ brother

The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) is preparing to seek an arrest warrant for Kittipong “Big” Kachornboonthaworn, one of four brothers who allegedly run the macau888 online gambling website.

Speaking after a meeting of the investigation team yesterday, CCIB commissioner Pol Lt Gen Worawat Watnakornbancha said police have obtained sufficient evidence from an expanded probe into Tuesday’s arrest of a rapper and a social media influencer who is allegedly connected with the gambling site.

Police are preparing to seek a warrant against Mr Kittipong for colluding in organising and persuading others to gamble without permission and for money laundering, similar to the charges pressed against a prime suspect, Chaiwat “Benz” Kachornboonthaworn, alias Benz Daemon, 37, the eldest of the four brothers.

Mr Chaiwat was arrested on the night of Feb 14 as soon as he arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport from Hong Kong.

However, Mr Kittipong, 32, and the third brother are currently in another country. The CCIB will coordinate with a foreign counterpart to issue an Interpol Red Notice for Mr Kittipong, Pol Lt Gen Worawat said.

Regarding Mr Kitttipong’s assets, he said the Anti-Money Laundering Office will set up a committee and will hold a meeting on March 7 before submitting its report to the CCIB to investigate the network’s transaction routes and money trail, he said.

Pol Maj Gen Wiwat Khamchamnan, the CCIB deputy commissioner, said actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut, who shed light on the website’s operations and those involved via Facebook on Jan 15, will return to Thailand on March 16 to give more information.
