Police seize B30m worth of drugs

On Tuesday, more than 30 million baht worth of illegal drugs were seized from two packages bound for abroad and two immigrants.

The Airport Interdiction Task Force ( AITF ) separately intercepted two parcels of heroin at the Suvarnabhumi airport post office, one weighing 8.3 kilograms worth 9 million baht and the other 8.4 kg worth 8.9 million.

The medicines were intended for Australia, according to Panthong Loykulanant, a spokeswoman for the Customs Department yesterday. The labels on both packages read “photos.”

Later that evening, the AITF detained a Kenyan who had arrived from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was discovered to be carrying 1.2 kg of methamphetamine, or roughly 3.7 million ringgit.

Police also apprehended an American gentleman who had flown in from Belgium carrying 3.1 kg of MDMA, 1. 2kg of bliss, and 3. 1kg morphine. The estimated value of the medicines was 9.1 million baht.
