Police search for Ratchaburi gold robber

Gone within 60 seconds, with 780, 000 baht worth of gold

RATCHABURI: Police are stepping up their look for an armed man who made away from with almost 780, 000 baht worth of gold after holding up a shop in Baan Pong region on Thursday.

Police stated the lone thief entered the Aurora gold shop in Big C Super Centre in Baan Pong, threatened staff and snatched upward 13 two-baht bodyweight of gold bracelets before escaping on the Honda Wave motorcycle.

Officials convened at 11pm that night in order to assess progress within tracking down the thief. They were reviewing monitoring camera footage in order to pinpoint his get away route and questioning witnesses, said Pol Maj Gen Piti Narukatarapichai, commander associated with Ratchaburi Provincial Police.

Law enforcement were also checking out suspects in the instant area of the robbery and coordinating with nearby gold shops to gather any additional information.

Sila Worapakdi, 47, who operates a store near the gold shop, told reporters on Friday that the thief was about 160 centimetres tall and had been wearing a medical cover up, a cap plus a pair of gloves in order to conceal his identity. After sweeping a tray of precious metal necklaces into a handbag, the robber ran from the scene.  

The whole incident took lower than one minute.
