Six people are accused of fraud and money laundering, including Sitra Biabungkerd.
In response to a request to be indicted for star lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd and six other defendants on fraud and money laundering costs, police have turned in their analysis reports to the prosecution.
Pol Col Phumphat Namphutsa, investigation chief of the Crime Suppression Division ( CSD ), on Friday handed the 9, 317-page report to deputy attorney-general Natthaphong Phutkaew.
The seven defendants are Mr Sittra, alias” Lawyer Tam”, 44, his wife Patthitta Biabungkerd, 41, Ms Patthitta’s elder sister Pinthira Kariwan, Nuwat Yongyut, 34, Sarinee Nutchanart, 32, and two store employees of a vehicle business who reportedly colluded with the attorney to fabricate files.
According to Pol Col Phumphat, Mr. Sittra committed crimes both inside and outside of Thailand. The three offences outside the region were scam involving a fake online jackpot with destruction of 71 million baht, a 39-million-baht fraud involving bitcoin, and the order of a Mercedes-Benz G400 on which the attorney apparently made a profit of 1.53 million baht.
A hotel design scheme was one of the crimes committed inside the nation, and Mr. Sittra and the others were accused of profiting from it in amounts of 5.5 million baht.
The two suspects who were accused of falsifying documents were told to turn themselves in to the police on Friday to face additional charges of forging documents related to the purchase of the Mercedes-Benz, according to Pol Col Phumphat.
Ms Pinthira, who was granted bail, was not taken to report to prosecutors, said Pol Col Phumphat.
The Attorney-General’s Office would receive the report, according to Mr. Natthaphong, and a panel would be set up to examine the case before the suspects ‘ detention period expires on January 30.
Since their arrest on November 7th, Mr. Sittra and his wife have been in police custody.
Prior to the arrest warrants were issued for the lawyer and the others, Jatuporn” Madame Oy” Ubonlert had previously filed a fraud complaint with the police against Mr. Sittra and was interrogated by investigators several times.
The 58-year-old Nakhon Ratchasima, who resides with her French husband in France, won a multibillion dollar lottery jackpot there.
Police earlier seized assets worth over 70 million baht, including 28 million baht cash, a luxury home worth 43 million baht and several high-end vehicle, from Mr Sittra.
