CHON BURI: Pattaya police and officials district raided a gay club in Bang Lamung district in the early hours of yesterday morning, which was operating without a permit and past the permitted opening hours.
When authorities arrived at Dragon Man Club on Soi Pattaya Klang 12 in tambon Nong Prue at 3.30am yesterday, they found about 50 people still drinking and dancing at the venue, 15 of whom — 14 men and a woman — tested positive for drugs.
A subsequent search found plastic sachets containing powders which authorities believed to be illegal drugs, hidden in the staff lockers. Some of the packets had been opened and traces of them were found in the venue’s rubbish bins. Many used condoms were also found all over the place.
The club’s staff and the 15 customers who tested positive for drugs were taken to Pattaya police station for legal action.
Pisit Sirisawasdinukul, the Bang Lamung district chief, said the pub was operating without a licence, open beyond the mandated closing time of 2am and allowed use of drugs on site.
He will report to Chon Buri governor Thawatchai Srithong and recommend the venue be closed for five years.
