Police in paedophile bail case face action

Because they did not object to the loan being granted to a European national accused of child sexual abuse, the captain of the Pattaya City police station in Chon Buri and some of his team may face disciplinary actions.

The European think left Thailand after being released on bail.

He claimed he had paid the authorities a pay to obtain the bail and left Thailand, which caused his case to gain media attention.

The reputable German DW-TV network last month posted a withering documentary about Thailand’s red-light” sex-for-sale” tradition that highlighted his bribe payment claim.

On September 10, a raid took place at Cobra Beer Bar, which is situated on Soi Bua Khao in the Bang Lamung city of Chon Buri. The bartender and his Thai woman were detained and accused of trafficking people.

The German think, Jens Kirch, 55, was afterwards detained at a resort on Pattaya Sai 2 Road and charged with child sex abuse. He was eventually granted bail and left the country on November 7 at the Suvarnabhumi aircraft under the condition that he would be required to return the following November.

Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief, stated yesterday that if the police station chief and authorities in charge of the case are discovered to have accepted the pay, they will face charges.

According to Pol Gen Surachate, the police will meet with the European suspect tomorrow at 2 p.m. to discuss the possibility of bringing the suspect again to Thailand for prosecution.

He claimed he had not yet heard anything about it and refused to confirm a rumor that the assume had already been detained by the German government.

” An Interpol alert may still be issued for this suspect and it is expected to be out tomorrow, even though Germany does n’t have an extradition treaty with Thailand,” he said.

He added that Pattaya will soon see a significant assault on human smuggling activities.

A American man who owned the table that was raided was being held in police custody and awaiting a court decision, while another think, an American gentleman, had crossed the border to flee Thailand.

According to Pol Gen Surachate, a Thai attorney for the European think acknowledged receiving 1 million baht from his clientele, but it was still vague to whom the money had gone.

But, Parinya Phromsak, the attorney, denied paying one million baht as a reward to the Thai regulators to obtain loan for his clientele, claiming that the money was used in part as surety for the loan and in the other for how he handled the case on the client’s behalf.

According to Supagon Noja, a spokeswoman for the Child Rights Protection Group in Chon Buri, some foreign paedophiles are aware that they can get away with misbehavior in Thailand and have access to competent legal representation.

He claimed that Pattaya’s crime community members frequently run into minors at a liquor table on Soi Bua Khao and give them advice on how to have sex with them.

He claimed that in public places, these persons recognize one another using a variety of images, such as cross earrings and particular tattoos.
