Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister, claimed an opposition party had participated in secret negotiations to meet the Pheu Thai-led alliance, causing a stir in the Democratic Party divisions yesterday.
Mr. Srettha claimed that an opposition group engaged in covert conversations about joining the ruling coalition, without giving any names.
However, he said he had no element in the debate.
His remarks come as rumors that the Democrats are being hired to strengthen the government coalition’s standing in the House come as a cabinet reshuffle is anticipated following the two-day public debate, which is scheduled to wrap up last night.
” I believe there were]discussions], but they did n’t talk to me because I kept insisting that our coalition remains solid and we’re working well.
It’s their company and they are talking to each other. But there must have been]this kind of discussion], “he said.
When questioned about the possibility of adding a new group to the partnership, the prime minister reiterated that he had no intention of bringing in a new coalition companion.
The Pheu Thai- led coalition state consists of 11 functions. It commands a majority in the House of Representatives, with 315 Members under its wing.
The number of state Members would achieve 336 if combined with the 21 members of the Democrat Party.
Although its vital figures have so far stated they do not help any charge to be a part of the state, the Democrat Party, which is currently under Chalermchai Sri-on’s leadership, is believed to be most likely to join the Pheu Thai alliance.
Mr Srettha’s responses angered Democrat MPs Jurin Laksanawisit and Chaichana Dejdecho.
Mr. Jurin said Mr. Srettha may recall his own thoughts, but he did not specify whether he meant that the government coalition had once promised to reunite the party.
The former Democrat leader also criticized Mr. Srettha for referring to the organization as a bug, claiming that the premier’s statement showed how readily he was irritated by criticism.
Mr Chaichana, an MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat, called on Mr Srettha to present age and label the opposition party.
When asked about the possibility that the group itself might have leaked the rumor, the MP replied that he had no idea why the Democrats would do it.
