Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit has threatened to withdraw people van operating permits if such instances occur again after discovering piles of trash in a parking lot behind the Bangkok Bus Terminal or Mo Chit 2 in Chatuchak area.
Suphanat Minchaiynunt, the Women’s Party MP for Chatuchak, Bang Khen, and Lak Si, raised the concern on Sunday by posting a concept on X with a picture of spare bundles taken on Saturday.
He claimed that the Minister of Transport lacked aptitude for the job and had failed to supervise the departments under its control, including the Landowner, the State Railway of Thailand ( SRT), and the Department of Land Transport ( DLT), to operate effectively as garbage piled up on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road.
Mr. Suriya claimed to have already received a statement from the SRT and the Transportation Company indicating the incident took place as a result of people vehicle driving in the area. Previous weekend was a long trip, so there were more people than normal. In addition, there was a mo lam ( Isan folk music ) concert organised without permission in the area, which resulted in waste dumping.
He claimed that all the garbage had been taken away by 6 p.m. on Monday. He further instructed the SRT and the Transportation Company to halt the use of the place and take steps to stop related events from occurring once more.
” If there is a infraction, the Department of Land Transport may issue a good and dismiss the running licence, including revoking the full agreement if necessary”, he said.
The government will collaborate with the Royal Thai Police to set up a no-parking area on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road, and the highway’s limits may be painted red and white. In accordance with the customers legislation, offenders will be punished.
