
Phumtham Wechayachai, the minister of defense, expressed his readiness to appoint temporary head of the Department of Special Investigation ( DSI) in the event that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra appoints him.
His remarks came after the recent justice minister, Pol Col Tawee Sodsong, was suspended from the DSI and the Special Case Committee.
Mr. Phumtham, who likewise presides the Special Case Committee, stated on Friday that he would assume any duties in accordance with the law and the rule of law.
He noted that on Tuesday, the top is expected to nominate a temporary replacement for Pol Col Tawee.
When asked if assuming direct control of the DSI would be a concern for him, Mr. Phumtham replied that he would pursue commands from his better and would not be alarmed by this action because his actions would continue to fall under the legal umbrella.
He even provided more details about his role in a recent complaint that has drawn controversy over the Senate election:” As chair of the Special Case Committee, I acted on a formal demand submitted by the Election Commission.
He claimed that it had already been decided which cases in the petition fell under the DS I’s and the commission’s.
According to the supporting facts, the DSI stated that it was proceeding.
Ultimate judgments depend on the circumstances. He said it is up to the court to decide a case.
Mr. Phumtham remarked that for rumors were personal and that he was only carrying out his duties in response to growing rumors that the situation might be seen as a form of “lawfare” within the ruling coalition government.
No need to “over-dramatise” or “imagine” discord where there might not be, he said.
Due to her departure for Vietnam on Thursday, the PM’s Office minister, Chusak Sirinil, alleged that Ms. Paetongtarn had pressed for appointing people to lead the DSI.
