Phuket pub boss charged with using Thai nominee

British wanted on an arrest warrant for breaking the Foreign Business Act.

PHUKET: An American male has been detained at a restaurant in the isle province’s Muang district for using a Thai candidate to operate a business.

Phuket immigration officials and local authorities apprehended Donald Ray Mangiameli, 67, at Michelangelo’s Bar &amp, Lounge on Takua Pa Road in tambon Talad Yai of Muang region at 9.10pm Friday, said the imprisoning group.

According to Record 3 of the Foreign Business Act, he was wanted on a subpoena issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on February 13 for using a Thai national or jurist to run a company in which Thai persons were not prepared to compete with foreign citizens.

The suspect gave an explanation as to who the person named in the subpoena was and was later handed over to officers at the Muang city place for legal actions.
