Officials in Phuket are painting over the rainbow crossings constructed for Pride Month in June because more motorcycle injuries resulted from their extra length and wet plaster.

At the Chartered Bank Intersection in Phuket Town, the crossings were painted. They will be replaced by regular red-and-white horse bridges, said deputy president Prasit Sinsaowapak.

A shovel may be needed to dig up the colored pavement on the Phangnga Road side, where the procedure would begin. New cement may become applied before painting. He predicted that the work would be done at night and that it would take four days to complete all four sidewalks.

Drivers have been cautioned about driving during the design, particularly when weather falls.

For the June 29 Discover Phuket Pride 2024 occurrence, the rainbows crosswalks were painted to enhance the intersection. The crosswalks gained popularity during the month, but afterwards received criticism for causing a number of motorcycle accidents in the cloudy weather.

Phuket, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen are competing to be Thailand’s member seeking to sponsor the InterPride World Conference, a key global LGBTQ occasion, in 2025.

On Friday, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB ) will make its announcement.
