Phuket governor condemns New Zealand brothers who assaulted cop

The Thai government criticized the New Zealand sons who attacked a customers policeman on Saturday and stole his pistol, calling it a total violation of Thai legislation.

” Such an attack, no matter whether it happens to our officials or]ordinary ] people, is intolerable”, Phuket governor Sophon Suwannarat told a press conference at the Phuket provincial police office on Monday.

He was speaking about the case of two New Zealanders who attacked a transportation police officer after he pursued them following a Saturday traffic stop.

” The attitude was poor and illegal… It sets a terrible example for a visitor province like Phuket… critical steps will be taken to preserve the Phuket culture… Phuket’s residents and Thai citizens may remain secure, the governor said.

According to Mr. Sophon, Phuket officials do inform the New Zealand ambassador in Bangkok that their people had flagrantly broken the law.

At the press event, Phuket police chief Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum gave a complete account of the incident. He claimed that at 4.10pm on Saturday, Hamish Day, 34, and Oscar Day, 36, rode their rented motorcycles dangerously quickly past the Chalong police station on Chaofa ( West ) Road in the Muang district without using the left lane as required by the traffic law.

When Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak Noo- iad was on work in front of the police station, he told them to halt, but they ignored him. The police next radioed the two tourists and asked for a copy team to follow them both.

Later, the visitors made a stop in front of a restaurant on Chaofa ( East ) Road. The police officer informed them that their refusal to comply with his prevent order had broken the law. Additionally, the officer requested their generating licenses.

The police told the New Zealanders to give their great at the police station, but the New Zealanders initially offered a reward.

In reply, they walked towards their riders with an evident intention to leave. Next, using his cell phone, Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak took their photos.

The boys finally became enraged. One of them attempted to take the policeman’s weapon, wrestled him to the ground, and then attacked the officer.

During the fight, the gun was fired after but no one was hit.

The Phuket authorities chief claimed that the intruder, who had immobilized the police, was a big, powerful mixed martial arts fighter. He ultimately took the gun and gave it to his nephew.

A few minutes later, the copy team showed up and stopped the situation from getting worse.

The New Zealanders ‘ tourist visa were suspended, and they would be placed on a blacklist, according to Pol Maj Gen Sinlert.

They were charged with robbery, restriction of a officer on duty, abuse on a policeman, attempted bribery and driving without a licence.

Pol Col Ekarat Plaiduang, commander of the Chalong police depot, said Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak’s hands were somewhat injured and suffered wounds elsewhere. He received&nbsp, standard payment and unique financial help from his acquaintances and supervisors.

He claimed a rental car company that rents riders to people without a driver’s license may be fined 2, 000 ringgit.
