PHUKET: By Monday, the majority of the rain-stricken areas of this southwestern tourist island had been rained out due to flooding brought on by heavy rain that had impacted airline flight schedules on Sunday.

Moo 4 and Moo 6 settlements of tambon Thepkasattri in Thalang area are also flooded, according to Sophon Thongsai, Phuket’s hazard reduction chief, but residents are returning to their homes.

On Sunday, about 100 people gathered at Wat Thepkasattri School and 20 people stayed at Banpakrongcheep School in tambon Thepkasattri.

Home owners and local authorities were now doing their best to remove the dirt that the inundation had left behind, Mr. Sophon said.

Sophon Suwannarat, the governor of Phuket, reported that support was being provided to 740 families in the districts of&nbsp, Kathu, and Thalang. The Thalang district’s Bantarua School was shut down on Monday as the clean-up raged in. There are no reports of damage in the Muang city.

The neighborhood received 310 millimeters of rain on Sunday, according to the governor. The storm disrupted several flights&nbsp, at Phuket airports.
