Phuket builds 4th ‘smart’ pier

PHUKET: To facilitate better tourist services, the Phuket local coastal office is converting its third privately-run pier into a smart one.

The office director, Nachapong Pranit, stated that marine authorities are working with concerned organizations, such as the Digital Economy Promotion Agency ( Depa ), to convert Ao Chalong Pier into a smart pier that will cost around 60 million baht.

Ao Por Pier is Thailand’s primary smart pier, and Phuket now has three of them: Explore Panwa Pier, Rassada Park Pier.

According to Mr. Nachapong, the bright piers use digital solutions to raise safety and tourism service standards, increasing traveler confidence.

He stated that in order to enhance services and health, the aquatic office will ask providers of the other piers managed by public and private organizations for assistance.

According to the national, the island state serves 40.000 people daily during high season at 18 piers and 5 marinas. During various times of the year, that amount decreases by half.

According to Mr. Nachapong, a number of business owners are interested in building new boats in Ao Kung, Mai Khoa, and are currently reviewing their development plans.

He continued by saying that because the area is a well-liked stop for cruise liners passing through the area, business operators support the development of cruise terminals.

He claimed that in order to get ready for the upcoming high season, the municipal coastal office and the nearby sea hospitality industry recently organized a workshop for about 100 boat service operators and crew.

According to Mr. Nachapong, catamaran service operators and personnel were strongly urged to research navigational guidelines, evaluate operational standards, examine communications equipment and safety equipment, and strictly adhere to instructions regarding storm warnings.

One of the things that can increase visitor confidence is safety, he continued.

He continued by saying that businesses standards have also been developed by aquatic authorities in Phuket, Krabi, and Phangnga to guarantee the safety of tour vessels. Visit boat trips are required to inform the maritime transportation and security center in their area of their travels.
