Philippines’ Marcos drops estranged VP Duterte from security council

Following a terrible cut between the two former friends last year, Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte will no longer serve on the National Security Council. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed an attempt removing her business from the organization.

Marcos claimed that the National Security Council ( NSC ) needed to be reorganized to “ensure that its council members uphold and safeguard national security and sovereignty.”

The vice-president’s company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

” At the moment, the VP is not considered important to the duties of participation in the NSC”, Lucas P. Bersamin, Executive Secretary to the President, said in a speech.

According to the order, which was signed on December 30 and released on Friday ( Jan 3 ), the council’s reorganization was also intended to guarantee a resilient national security institution that was able to face new challenges.

Previous presidents are no longer a part of the council, and the changes give Marcos the authority to appoint “other government officials and secret citizens” as needed.

Sara Duterte, the daughter of previous president Rodrigo Duterte, is already facing impeachment allegations that accuse her of bone, stupidity, and collecting ill-gotten wealth while serving. She has denied the claims.

Duterte has claimed that if she herself were killed, she had engaged an assassin to kill the president, his wife, and his aunt, the House of Representatives speech. She eventually claimed that her remarks had been taken out of context. &nbsp,
