Philippines denounces China for ‘dangerous and offensive’ actions in South China Sea

A Chinese military ship that was pursuing and attempting to cut off a Spanish navy vessel carrying out an resupply mission late last week was pursued by the Spanish military, which has urged China to stop” illegal actions” in the South China Sea.

According to military forces key Romeo Brawner, a Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy( PLAN) fleet attempted to cross in front of the Philippine send near Thitu island, the largest and most carefully significant outpost in the South China Sea, and came as close as 350 miles.

According to Brawner, these risky and unpleasant maneuvers by China’s PLAN instantly endanger the lives of nautical personnel from both sides in addition to posing a collision risk.

On Monday, a request for comment was made to the Chinese ambassador in Manila, but no response was given right away.

It was the most recent in a string of Chinese attempts to track and obstruct Spanish recharge missions to personnel in Manila-occupied areas of the South China Sea, the Philippines’ sole economic zone.

More than US$ 3 trillion in business passes through the South China Sea each year, and China asserts reign over nearly the entire region.

Since Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos pursued closer relations with Washington, including expanding US entry to more Spanish military bases, relations between Manila and Beijing have deteriorated.
