MANILA:  , The Philippine military said on Saturday ( Aug 10 ) that it strongly condemns “dangerous and provocative actions” by China’s air force at a contested shoal in the South China Sea.
A Spanish air force plane conducting a regular sea guard over the Scarborough reef was struck by two People’s Liberation Army Air Force plane during a dangerous maneuver, the military said in a statement.
According to Romeo Brawner, the head of the Philippines ‘ armed forces, the Chinese aircraft “violated international law on aircraft security and threatened the life of our staff who recently conducted maritime security operations within Philippine sea zones.”
China’s military in Manila did not respond to a request for comment right away.
Beijing claims almost all of the South China Sea, a pipeline for more than US$ 3 trillion of monthly shipborne business, including components claimed by the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
China refutes a 2016 Hague decision by the Permanent Court of Arbitration that Beijing’s wide says lacked legal support.
