Philippine coast guard rescues 67 people from damaged boat in the second ferry accident in a week

MANILA: In the second boat incident to strike the nation in a month, officials said the Spanish coast guard saved all 67 people on Thursday( Aug 3 ) off of an island off the coast of Maine. The ferry boat struck the floating object and capsized, according to officials.

When the Jovelle Express 3 was damaged after colliding with an unidentified object around noon off Polillo area in Quezon territory, a passenger on board was able to get in touch with the coast guard station for assistance.

After being transported to Polillo, the 60 people and the 7 team members were waiting for another boat to take them to Quezon.

At least 27 people perished last week when a crowded ferry boat capsized in Laguna de Bay shortly after leaving Binangonan, east of Manila’s money. According to the coast guard and officers, the wooden motorboat flipped over as a result of strong winds that had lashed it and caused anxiety among many passengers.

According to the beach watch, more than 40 additional passengers and crew members on the Aya Express were saved.
