Pheu Thai appears to beat People’s Party in Udon Thani local election

Sarawut Petchapanomporn, a candidate for the ruling Pheu Thai Party and supported by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, is likely to get the municipal operational organization president election on Sunday in Udon Thani state.

At 8pm when the vote count was 54 % completed, he had received 203, 078 votes while the first runner-up, Kanisorn Khurirang from the opposition-core&nbsp, People’s Party ( PP ), had 165, 024 votes.

Thaksin, parents of Pheu Thai leader&nbsp, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, campaigned for Mr Sarawut in the northern province on Nov 13 and 14. He told followers on that occasion that Pheu Thai needed a flood, then, he would be embarrassed.

Prior to the upcoming general election, political spectators questioned the political power and popularity of Pheu Thai and PP.
