Pet groomer fined S,000 over death of dog she left unattended on grooming table

A pet groomer in Singapore was fined S$ 10, 000 ( US$$ 7, 400 ) on Tuesday ( Apr 8 ) for leaving a dog unattended on a grooming table in July of last year.

The dog slipped off the cleaning tables and hung by its throat from its collar because of Vanessa Chiu Yan Er, 29, who failed to secure a dachshund with a double-arm lock.

The dog, Fendi, passed away gradually, and the event sparked anger online after a video of the incident was made public. &nbsp,

Chiu recently admitted guilt on one matter under the Animals and Birds Act for omitting an action that caused Fendi unnecessary pain and suffering while running an animal-related company. &nbsp,

The prosecutor was informed in advance that Chiu had been grooming Fendi at her Serangoon Central home-based dog grooming shop on Jul 24, 2024. &nbsp,

Before taking a lunch break with her girlfriend and an individual, Chiu cleaned the region around 1 p.m.

The group then went to a coffee store for breakfast, leaving the dogs there for 45 minutes unattended. &nbsp,

Instead of using a double-arm switch, Fendi was secured with a little rope. &nbsp,

The trial claims that leaving a dog on the floor when it is not at home is the customary process. The puppy may be secured if it is required to be left on a board. &nbsp,

The dogs began to bark eagerly at 1.45 p.m. Eventually, Fendi fell off the table and was hanged by the throat until it passed away.

When Chiu’s personnel arrived, she discovered the dog still and called for assistance. &nbsp,

Chiu attempted respiratory treatment after checking for a signal. She took Fendi to a clinical emergency clinic with her fiance, but the puppy was indifferent and lacked rhythm.

On a second offense, Chiu could have been fined up to S$ 40, 000, or jailed up to S two centuries, or both. &nbsp,
