People’s Power Party withdraws from four-party opposition alliance

SINGAPORE: The People’s Power Party ( PPP ) has withdrawn from the People’s Alliance for Reform ( PAR ), a four-party alliance with the Peoples Voice ( PV), the Reform Party ( RP ) and the Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP ), PPP secretary-general Goh Meng Seng announced on Saturday ( Feb 22 ). &nbsp,

In a Instagram post, Mr. Goh claimed that the decision was based on “irreconcilable proper differences” prior to the future General Election. &nbsp,

Without unnecessary problems that may result from our fundamental proper differences, he continued, adding,” This is to assure that PAR can continue to function as a powerful political force in the future GE.” &nbsp,

Formed in 2023, the Line alliance is a publicly registered relationship. PV secretary-general Lim Tean is the secretary-general of the empire. &nbsp,

” We significantly treasure our relationship and it has been a long, created quest towards the formation of PAR,” said Mr. Goh. We have reached a depressing intersection where we must make the difficult choice to leave PAR, though.

Mr. Lim claimed in a Facebook article on Sunday night that the party had urged the group to challenge Tampines GRC, which PV, RP, and DPP were against because it “potentially will lead to a four-corner fight.”

” We also could not consent to PPP’s location on the COVID vaccine”, he added.

In May next time, the opposition party&nbsp, called for a suspension of COVID-19 immunization, citing” reports and analyses by popular medical professionals”. The&nbsp, “egregious and false says” were rejected by the Ministry of Health. &nbsp,

Mr Lim even stressed that Line is a” real partnership” of parties&nbsp, with a typical statement ahead of the&nbsp, General Election, and not merely a “loose gathering”.

” In the situation, we have agreed to part ways peacefully with PPP, who are leaving the ally”, he said. ” We wish PPP all the best for GE2025″.

Mr. Lim was sentenced to six weeks in prison and a$ 1,500 ( US$ 745 ) fine on February 17 for practicing law when he did not possess a valid certificate in 2021. &nbsp,

Mr. Goh founded the PPP in 2015, and he contested in Chua Chu Kang GRC in 2020. MacPherson SMC followed him.

Before the PPP was established, Mr. Goh campaigned for the Workers Party in Aljunied and Tampines GRCs in 2011 and 2006.
