GEORGE TOWN: The dissolution of Penang’s state assembly will be discussed further with party superiors before a decision is made, says state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow.
Following a two-hour meeting with the party’s state committee, Chow said their decision would be referred to the party’s central committee, which will be meeting on Tuesday (Oct 11).
“We will wait for their decision on whether the state assembly will be dissolved. After orders and decision is given, it will be announced,” he told reporters after the meeting at the state party headquarters in Jalan Rangoon on Monday (Oct 10).
Asked when the decision would be known, and if it would be within a week, Chow said “it has to be”.
The Penang Chief Minister said he has only held a meeting with the state DAP committee so far, adding that he has yet to hold a state-level Pakatan Harapan meeting on the matter.
“We have not held a state-level meeting and will call for a Pakatan meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the issue,” he added.
Chow said the process may even need to go through DAP’s central executive committee and possibly even the Pakatan presidential council.
