As firefighters battled smoke and flames at a hospital developing in the Det Udom area of Ubon Ratchathani on Friday, a fireplace erupted, forcing staff to leave patients.

According to Det Udom authorities, the fire at the state-run Detudom Hospital, which is located on the second floor of Building 3, where is the ears, nose, and throat care unit is located.

Black fumes was visible pouring out of the Chok Chai-Det Udom Road building, but the hospital’s 437-bed team was able to comfortably eject patients, according to police.

To contain the blaze, fireplace vehicles and paramedics were on hand.

Around 5:30 p.m., the Ubon Ratchathani city reported that firefighters had first been able to control the flame.

No specifics about injuries or harm were soon made available. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
