PAS chief says Malaysian opposition party must work on winning over non-Muslim voters: Reports

SINGAPORE: According to its president Abdul Hadi Awang, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia( PAS ) needs to work on converting voters who are not Muslims or Malay in order to win more votes in the nation’s 16th general election( GE16 ). & nbsp,

On Friday, October 20, the group leader gave a speech at the PAS ‘ 69th monthly congress’ opening. & nbsp,

According to him, who was quoted by the Malay Mail,” We did a post-mortem and we found weaknesses and strengths … among the faults were our failing to obtain citizens who are not Muslims and the inadequate number of seats.” & nbsp,

In the most recent state elections, PAS & nbsp won 105 of the seats, winning 126 out of 245 total. & nbsp,

This came after a similar impressive performance at GE15 in November of last year, when PAS took the helm of the opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional & nbsp, ( PN ), becoming the single-largest party in Malaysia’s parliament with 43 seats.

Analysts claimed that after the six state elections, PAS had replaced the United Malays National Organization ( UMO ) as the main political party for Malaysians. & nbsp,

The party needs to do more, though, in order to reach out beyond Terengganu, Kelantan, Perlis, and Kedah, the northern Asian homeland says. & nbsp,

According to the news source Free Malaysia Today, Abdul Hadi & nbsp described the task as an” important and challenging” responsibility that was essential for the party to form the federal government at the following polls. & nbsp,

He emphasized once more that the party’s conservative agenda did not imply that Malaysians and non-Muslims’ rights may be disregarded. & nbsp,

According to the report, he stated that the group will continue to” protect freedom of religion and ensure justice.” & nbsp,
