SINGAPORE: The Singapore Police Force ( SPF ) on Tuesday ( Dec 31 ) closed off parts of Marina Bay due to “growing crowds” ahead of the New Year countdown event.
The places closed are Jubilee Bridge, Merlion Waterfront and Fullerton Waterfront.
Singapore is ushering in the new year with , ONE Clock 2025- the first in a series of activities celebrating the government’s 60 years of independence. Activities are being held across various places, including Marina Bay, the Singapore Sports Hub and in the hinterlands.
Police had previously stated that they anticipate large masses to attend the ceremonies in the areas around the Marina Bay and Kallang Basin.
They urged people to check , Crowd@MarinaBay , and , Crowd@Kallang , for real-time data on group levels, place closures and accessible travel nodes.
SPF said last week that it may manage the number of people , entering The Promontory, Merlion Park, Esplanade Park, Esplanade Waterfront Promenade, Marina Bay Sands Waterfront Promenade and various regions of Marina Bay.  ,
At the Kallang Basin Stadium Roar and Water Sports Centre, group control procedures are also in place.
Public transportation is advised to use public transportation to the Marina Bay region because some streets are closed to vehicular traffic.
According to the police, certain MRT facilities ‘ entrances and exits will be closed to control group flow. Additionally, railways may travel through affected channels to divert traffic.
