Parents killed, kids badly hurt when pickup rear-ends parked truck

SONGKHLA: A couple were killed and their two children, aged four and 7, significantly injured when their particular pickup truck rear-ended a parked container pickup truck in Sadao district in the early hrs of Saturday.

The crash occurred on Kanchanawanit Road bound to Sadao border checkpoint, mentioned Pol Capt Saichon Suparbcharoenkul, deputy investigation chief at Sadao police station, who had been reported at close to 2am.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene and discovered a crashed Isuzu pickup truck with Songkhla licence plates. The crumpled front wedged under the back of the container truck along with Bangkok licence discs.  

Two people were murdered and their 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son badly injured. They were trapped in the wreckage.

Those killed were later identified as drivers Hassabodi Thonngan, the 35-year-old territorial protection volunteer, and his spouse whose name had not been identified. The youngster was found sitting down on the lap associated with his mother. The injured were hurried to a nearby medical center.

According to a police analysis, the family was along the way to their house on Dan Nok village in tambon Samnak Kham of Sadao district when their own vehicle suddenly rear-ended the parked truck.  

The crash picture was dark, mentioned police. Officers had been tracking down the truck driver for asking before pressing fees.

Police said road accidents involving parked trailer trucks and little vehicles happened often on the route between Sadao and the border gate.
