SINGAPORE: Parents’ dialect organizations will be included in electronic birth certificates issued from Sep one, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on Fri (Aug 12).
This comes after ICA received various queries regarding the exclusion of this information.
Parents’ dialect groupings were among the areas of information that were overlooked during the transition from physical to electronic birth certificates. These fields of information had been dropped as they were “not necessary for plan and other administrative needs”, ICA said.
Other fields info excluded are: The particular parents’ countries associated with birth, the mums address, the child’s place of birth registration and a section known as “Informant’s Particulars”.
This was done “to simplify the registration process, and to slow up the number of fields” the authority added.
Information about parents’ vernacular groups continues to be signed up by ICA, stated the authority, adding that it is available in Singpass. However , ICA acknowledged “the feelings which have been expressed on the matter”.
“We possess therefore decided to consist of parents’ dialect within digital birth accreditation issued from Sep 1, 2022, ” ICA said.
