Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong announced on Friday that the 14-year-old boy who opened fire inside Siam Paragon on Tuesday has been admitted to the Galya Rajanagarindra Institute for medical treatment on the guidance of doctors.

The child will be kept under observation at the hospital by representatives from the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection as they work to determine what led him to commit the crime.

The boy turned himself in to police after the shooting that injured five others and killed two people in the mall. The police claimed he appeared bewildered and incoherent. He is accused of murder and attempted death, among other things.

He was detained at the Juvenile Observation and Protection Center on Wednesday as per a directive from the Central Judge and Family Court. It turned down his demand to be admitted to the Galya Rajanagarindra Institute until a tentative examination revealed whether he had medical conditions necessitating specialized care.

Due to individual confidentiality laws, the minister withheld information about the boy’s medical condition. He only claimed that the teen’s bond release was denied by the court.

He added that it is also forbidden to distribute the boy’s photos because doing so would be against his right.

But, Pol Col Tawee emphasized that the children would be subject to all legal processes and that those who were harmed by the affair would receive legal compensation.

In order to determine the boy’s true motivation,” the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection will participate in the research of his parents, family, and close associates ,” he declared.

In order to properly address the social circumstances of today, the government will also examine the laws governing legal actions against children under the age of 15 and determine where those rules should be changed.

A picture that was widely circulated on social media revealed that the child had appeared at a firing range of the Royal Thai Army’s Territorial Defense Command.

According to the military public relations department, the range is available to encourage shooting among members and serious members of the public.

On the situation that they completely abide by the rules and regulations, members are permitted to bring outsiders to the variety.

The military spokesperson said that because the child was not a part, it was assumed that some members had taken him to the variety.
