Papua New Guinea’s important gas minister Jimmy Maladina has been charged with rape following an alleged “domestic debate” in Australia, according to court records.
A 58-year-old man who was known to a 31-year-old woman was reportedly attacking her in Sydney on Saturday night native time.
Before making a court looks on July 11th, Mr. Maladina was given contingent loan.
In a speech, he said he was “aware of the new internet information” and was” cooperating with the authorities to handle this problem”.
” I understand the gravity of this condition and the problems it raises”, said Mr Maladina.
” As a common servant, I hold myself to higher standards of conduct, both personally and professionally.
” I want to make it clear that crime in any form is intolerable, and I am committed to handling this situation with dignity and clarity.”
According to authorities, the alleged victim had physical injuries.
In early this season, Mr. Maladina was appointed Papua New Guinea’s gas chancellor, serving as its president’s senior adviser.
He is intensely involved in the lucrative venture to commercialize the nation’s natural gas resources.
