PAP unveils two new faces in Aljunied GRC, refreshing slate ahead of next election

The Citizens ‘ Consultative Committee (CCC ) in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC’s Bukit Timah ward was previously led by Mr. Sim.

Organisations plan and direct big grassroots activities within constituencies, monitor local assistance programmes, and reorganize big fund-raising projects and regional campaigns.

Sequential Achieva, a computer and electronics manufacturing company, was listed on the Singapore Exchange Catalist in June, and Mr. Sim serves as its CEO and executive producer.

He received his certification in electrical engineering from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1990, and he received a Murdoch University degree in commerce in 1998. In 2015, he received a degree of beliefs in business management from Honolulu University.

Both people are likely to be on the PAP’s list for the upcoming General Election, which must be held by November of next year.

FIRST GRC WON BY OPPOSITION

The WP defeated a PAP group that included former foreign affairs minister George Yeo and stranger Ong Ye Kung, who is already secretary for health, in the first election held by Aljunied GRC.

It won the second opposition party to win a GRC since the system’s introduction in 1988, with 54.72 percent of the seats secured.

The team was led by then-WP secretary-general Low Thia Khiang, who left his long-time stronghold of Hougang to challenge the GRC. Pritam Singh, the party’s president, Sylvia Lim, Mr. Faisal Abdul Manap, and Chen Show Mao, a stranger, made up the group.

The WP therefore retained Aljunied GRC in the 2015 political competition, with 50.95 per share of the vote. Given the close result, the PAP group applied for a recount, but was later still edged up.

Yeo Guat Kwang, a former four-term MP, and Mr. Shamsul, the current president of the Kaki Bukit unit, made up the PAP group.

In his first political campaign since taking over the ropes from Mr. Low in 2018, Mr. Singh led his party to success in the district once more in the previous General Election in 2020.

The highest percentage to date for which the WP has won a GRC was the 59.95 % of seats secured.

WP also won the newly formed four-member Sengkang GRC, earning its next GRC, in the 2020 competition.
