Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam stated on Saturday ( Feb. 15 ) that the ruling People’s Action Party ( PAP ) always has more candidates than space available to run for each general election.
He was speaking to the media during a haywire in Khatib, where he serves as the outlet secretary, at the time.
Along with the other Nee Quickly team members, Mr. Shanmugam interacted with locals at the marketplace there during the walkabout, including Mr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Mr. Louis Ng, Ms. Carrie Tan, and Mr. Derrick Goh, the minister of state for household affairs.

Along with them will be Fanny Quickly East’s Citizens ‘ Consultative Committee Chairman Mr. Daniel Liu, who will take over the Paya Lebar branch of PAP in the opposition-held Aljunied GRC on Monday.
Mr. Shanmugam claimed that Mr. Liu was one of the social talents he discovered while volunteering at Nee Immediately. He claimed that he has been doing so for about ten years.
” He’s one of those that I identified, and therefore I sent him to Louis”, said the minister. The Nee Quickly East hospital currently has Mr. Ng as its representative in parliament.
He could have easily sat up before, but we always have more candidates than candidates in mind.
He said that the 2015 net was” to first” for Mr Liu to get considered for election, and that he “might had been considered” for the 2020 competition.
” It doesn’t mean he is confirmed for 2025. The process is also ongoing”, said Mr Shanmugam.
He added that the group’s core executive council will make the final decision regarding Mr. Liu’s rollout.
