Pakistan PM says ‘avenged the blood of innocent lives’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday ( May 10 ) the military had given” a befitting response” to India after the worst confrontations in decades between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

” Now, we have given India a worthy response and avenged the blood of innocent life,” he said in a statement issued by his company, after speaking with all political parties.

Pakistan said it had launched defences against India on Saturday, using medium-range Fateh missiles  to target an American missile backup service and atmosphere outposts in Pathankot and Udhampur.   The attacks came after Islamabad said India had fired weapons at three airbases in the country.

American aircraft commander Vyomika Singh told a briefing on Saturday there were” some high-speed weapon attacks” on heat bases, but “limited injury” to products.

Pakistan previously accused India of targeting three of its foundations with weapons, including one in Rawalpindi, some 10km from the investment, Islamabad.

At least 13 civilians were killed in Pakistani Kashmir in 12 hours until lunch on Saturday, the country’s disaster authority said, as India and Pakistan traded flames after Islamabad’s military actions against India in the early days of the day.

More than 50 people were even injured in the region, the expert said.

The government has named its new hostile activity against India” Bunyan-un-Marsoos”. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the title means “a wall guarded with lead”.

Pakistan’s defence secretary added on Saturday that no meeting of the best military and civil system overseeing the country’s nuclear army had been scheduled following its earlier military operation against India.

” This thing that you have spoken about ( nuclear option ) is present, but let’s not talk about it- we should treat it as a very distant possibility, we shouldn’t even discuss it in the immediate context,” Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told ARY TV.

” Before we get to that place, I think conditions will come down. No appointment has happened of the National Command Authority, nor is any such meet scheduled. “

The conflicts, involving fighter jets, weapons, drones and ordnance, are the worst in years and have killed more than 60 citizens.

The battle was touched off by an assault last month in the Indian-administered part of disputed Kashmir that killed 26 visitors, largely Hindu gentlemen, which Delhi blamed on Islamabad.

India accused the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba- a UN-designated criminal organisation- of carrying out the assault, but Islamabad has denied any involvement and called for an independent sensor.

The countries have fought many war over the Muslim-majority Kashmir, which both declare in full but handle individual components of since gaining independence from British rule in 1947.
