Pakistan ex-PM Imran Khan sentenced to 14 years in graft case

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: &nbsp, A Pakistan court on Friday ( Jan 17 ) convicted former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in a landmark graft case, sentencing Khan to 14 years in prison.

Khan has been in custody since August 2023 and has been accused of handling around 200 instances, but his party claims that the most recent conviction was being used to force him into silence.

After his judgment, Khan declared to writers inside the court,” I will neither make any deal nor get any relief.”

Khan and his family were found guilty in the anti-graft court’s convening in the prison where Khan is currently imprisoned near the capital Islamabad over a joint happiness foundation called the Al-Qadir Trust.

The trial has established its case, the prosecutor claims. Khan is convicted”, said Judge Nasir Javed Rana, announcing a 14 time word for Khan and seven times for Bibi.

Faith doctor Bibi, who was recently released on bail, was arrested at the courtroom after the faith, her representative Mashal Yousafzai said.

Khan claims that the circumstances are motivated by political reasons and are intended to prevent him from winning back the presidency.

Over the past month, the statement has been postponed several times, with some analysts claiming that Khan was being pressured into accepting a military-imposed ceasefire.
