Roadblocks IN INSTALLING EV CHARGERS IN PRIVATE ESTATES ,
Because only a small number of residents in Choa Chu Kang use EVs, Mr. Ang Chee Siong, the president of the administration council, felt that it was difficult to persuade the residents to foot the additional cost.  ,
“( If ) you’re using the whole condo’s resources to support less than 1 to 2 per cent of the residents… it’s not really that sound a decision”, said Mr Ang.  ,
He said that currently, only about 3 per share of his apartments people drive EVs.  ,
He claimed that the condominium management spent a month looking into the issue to find a solution that would appeal to all occupants.  ,
They ultimately found two solutions to the price issue- by using a “zero-cost assembly” service for the chargers, and even tapping on LTA’s EV Common Charger Grant.
The grant did co-fund 50 per cent of the cost aspects of 2, 000 bright batteries, or until December following month, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Ang claimed that the offer has been a “very good help” in persuading condo residents that the installation of a charger may charge little.  ,
It also made a significant difference by persuading more than 90 % of people to approve the installation of batteries.  ,
In the villas in January, there were six EV batteries.  ,
LTA said that with co-funding assist from its EV Common Charger Grant, it has co-funded more than 1, 200 batteries, including the people at The Quintet.  ,
It added that by the conclusion of this year, it is estimated that one in five non-landed private residences in Singapore, such as condos, may be equipped with EV charging items.
Senior Minister of State for Transport, Amy Khor, told reporters at The Quintet that a late 2023 rules change had been instituted to better assist Volt charger installment plans at condos.
It lowers the percentage of people who can vote for the installation of EV chargers in flats from 90 % to 50 %.
Because of previous comments that it was a little challenging to reach the higher quality threshold,” we think the take-up rate is likely to rise,” said Dr. Khor.  ,
In order to maintain the “momentum of our move to cleaner energy cars,” LTA claimed, the growth in the number of charging points serves to increase with the growth in the number of Vehicles.  ,
Nearly a third of all new car registrations in the first half of 2024 were new electric cars, compared to 18 % for 2023 and 12 % for 2022.
To date, about 18, 000 vehicles, or 2.7 per cent of Singapore’s full auto people, are energy.
More than 80 % of all new car registrations for the first quarter of this year, including hybrid vehicles, were according to Dr. Khor.
LTA stated that it will relinquish registration fees for batteries used for research and educational purposes.  ,
By the fourth quarter of 2024, LTA stated,” This will help creativity and skill advancement for the field.”  ,
Following the most recent news, LTA will no longer charge chargers for up to two months of enrollment fees.
