At the conclusion of Hotel Properties Limited’s ( HPL) annual general meeting on April 29th, property tycoon Ong Beng Seng will step down as its managing director.
HPL claimed in an exchange filing on Monday ( Apr 14 ) that this would give Mr. Ong more time to manage his medical conditions.
Additionally, he won’t be running for re-election as a committee chairman.
In response to a recent court case involving former transport secretary S Iswaran, Mr. Ong’s health situation became public.
In February, it was revealed that Mr. Ong had been diagnosed with bone bone cancer.
In October 2024, the 79-year-old was accused of two crimes.
He is accused of aiding the former minister in getting an all-expenses-priced trip to Doha worth about S$ 20, 850 ( US$$ 15, 830 ) in December 2022.
The second command contends that Ong allegedly obstructed justice by consciously assisting Iswaran in May of 2023, when the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau was launching an investigation, by paying S$ 5,700 to Singapore GP for a business school flight seat from Doha to Singapore over the same journey.  ,
His plea deal was updated on the case management system of the court after a pre-trial event in February.
