Oman: Search continues for missing crew of capsized oil tanker

After an fuel ship capsized off the coast of Oman, a search function is currently underway to find 16 missing team people, 13 of whom are American.

An American official claimed to be in charge of coordinating the activity with Oman’s sea authorities.

Late on Monday, Oman authorities reported that the oil tanker Prestige Falcon had capsized 25 coastal miles east of its Ras Madrakah island.

Three of the 16 missing team members are Sri Lankan.

The Comoros-flagged vehicle was on its way to the port of Aden in Yemen when it capsized.

Officials from Oman’s Maritime Security Centre told Reuters news agency on Tuesday that the vessel remained” submerged, inverted” but did n’t confirm if it had stabilised.

Oman’s military government, which runs the heart, did not respond to the BBC’s concerns about whether the components of the ship had spilled into the water.

The 117.4m-long cargo was built in 2007, according to marinetraffic.com. The state of Duqm in Oman, home to a sizable business port, is where the ship capsized in.
