Four people have been killed and several others wounded in a shooting near a dome in Oman’s money, Muscat, authorities say.
Officers responded to the event and were now conducting “investigations to uncover the situation,” according to a small statement released immediately.
In the area of the Imam Ali dome, where Shia Muslims had gathered to celebrate the start of Ashura’s holy day, gunfire may be heard and officers can be seen in video posted on social media.
The police did not provide any information about the attacker’s or subjects ‘ names or the apparent purpose. But Pakistan’s embassy suggested that its people were among the wounded.
Imran Ali claimed in a film that he had visited some of the people in three nearby hospitals and that their problems were “relatively healthy.”
He even advised Omani Pakistanis to prevent al-Wadi al-Kabir and work with local officials.
As a precaution, the US embassy urged Americans to be cautious and canceled Tuesday card meetings.
Oman, a Gulf condition that has long been regarded as one of the most secure and safe nations in the Middle East, is one of the exceptions to this rule. In the process, it has been able to play a significant role in counseling efforts to try to resolve problems and disputes in the area.
The kingdom has a population of about 4.6 million, of which more than 40 % are foreign employees.
Data on religious affiliation are not made available by the state.
However, the US state department estimates that 95 % of the population is Muslim, with 45 % Sunni, 45 % Ibadi and 5 % Shia. The remaining 5 % is made up of Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians.
