Former park chief faces murder cost
Work of the Attorney-General has decided to indict former chief of Kaeng Krachan National Recreation area, Chaiwat Limlikit-aksorn, and three other individuals over the disappearance plus murder of Karen rights activist Porlajee “Billy” Rakchongcharoen within 2014.
The decision came after the Department of Unique Investigation submitted additional evidence which shows the activist has been murdered.
Mr Chaiwat will be arraigned on 4 charges in link with Billy’s disappearance and death, along with Bunthaen Butsarakham, Thanaset Chaemthet, and Kritsanaphong Chitthet, said Attorney-General Singchai Thanninson yesterday.
The fees include premeditated homicide, intimidation using weapons, unlawful detention plus concealing a cadaver, said a source.
The NINTENDO DSI submitted the results from the initial investigation to the OAG back in 2019, but the report had been rejected by the OAG’s Department of Unique Litigation, which said the DSI did not provide sufficient proof to prove that will Billy was killed.
During the time, the OAG considered the mitochondrial Paternity test — which was used to prove the human skull found in a drum discovered under a bridge within Kaeng Krachan Recreation area was in fact, Billy’s — as unreliable.
Therefore, it asked the DSI to support the request for arraignment with additional solid evidence, the origin added.
DSI’s initial review named five people as suspects, yet one name continues to be dropped from the situation, the source said.
Billy had been last seen on April 17, 2014, when he has been detained by Mister Chaiwat and several other park officers on Ma Rew checkpoint at the national recreation area, which is located in the main entrance in order to Bang Kloy community.
Mr Chaiwat yesterday claimed he wasn’t conscious of the OAG’s choice to indict your pet, but said he will prepare to turn themselves in to face the charges and guard justice.
Meanwhile, the OAG announcement comes as the previous Kaeng Krachan recreation area chief seeks to be reinstated as a civil servant after he was dismissed from his position on the Ministry of Organic Resources and Atmosphere.
Chaiwat: DSI offers more evidence
Phetchaburi’s Administration Court recently ruled in Mr Chaiwat’s favour after he appealed against his dismissal, an origin said.
The particular court said he or she should be allowed to carry on serving as a city servant until the killing case against your pet is finalised.
