North Korea’s Kim says country ready to mobilise nuclear war deterrent

SEOUL: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said their country is ready to mobilise its nuclear battle deterrent and for any military clash with all the United States, state press reported on Thurs (Jul 28), amid signs the North could conduct the first nuclear test since 2017.

Kim produced the remarks during a speech at an occasion to mark the 69th anniversary of the Jul 27 Korean War armistice, which usually left the two Koreas technically still in war, according to the standard KCNA news company.

Kim also denounced South Korea’s Yoon Suk-yeol administration, saying any tries to preemptively incapacitate the North will be met with a stern response and “annihilation”.

“I once more make it clear that Northern Korea is fully ready for any army confrontation with the United states of america, ” Kim said.

North Korea in recent months has tested hypersonic missiles plus missiles that it states could carry technical nuclear weapons, narrowing the time that Seoul would have to respond to a pending attack.
