SEOUL: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has declared victory in the fight against the novel coronavirus and ordered a lifting of its maximum anti-epidemic measures imposed in May, state media KCNA said upon Thursday (Aug 11).
North Korea has not uncovered how many confirmed bacterial infections of the virus they have found, but since Jul 29 it has documented no new thought cases with what global aid organisations say are limited tests capabilities.
Betty said North Korea’s official death price of 74 individuals is an “unprecedented miracle” compared to other countries, KCNA reported.
Experts have declared that the North’s numbers are unlikely to demonstrate the whole picture.
Its declaration of victory comes regardless of rolling out simply no known vaccine program. Instead, the country states it relied upon lockdowns, homegrown medication treatments, and what Kim called the “advantageous Korean-style socialist system”.
He ordered the lifting of maximum anti-pandemic measures, but said that North Korea must maintain the “steel-strong anti-epidemic hurdle and intensifying the anti-epidemic work till the end of the global health crisis”.
Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, said the North Korean leader himself had suffered from fever signs and symptoms, and blamed booklets from South Korea for causing the break out, KCNA reported.
