North Korea’s Kim calls for expanded missile launcher production in preparation for ‘military showdown’

In order to prepare for a “military showdown” with South Korea and the United States, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for increased missile launcher production, according to state media on Friday ( Jan 5 ).

Soon after Washington claimed that Russia had used projectile missiles and missiles supplied by North Korea in a recent burst of attacks on Ukrainian cities, he made his remarks, which were carried by the standard Asian Central News Agency.

State media images showed Kim touring a factory that makes transport erector launchers ( TELs ) used for the nation’s outlawed intercontinental ballistic missiles with his young daughter Ju Ae in tow before praising “dynamic drive for increased production” of the weapons.

Given the current dire situation that necessitates the nation being more strongly prepared for a military battle with the enemy, Kim advised workers increasing TEL production capacity to be important.

To strengthen the nation’s nuclear war deterrent, it added,” He specified the immediate plan for production of types of TELs, long-term production plan, and work of output power rise.”

John Kirby, a spokeswoman for the US National Security Council, told reporters on Thursday that Russia had fired Pyongyang-supplied weapons, which have ranges of about 900 km, in two attacks on Ukraine over the previous year.

In a presentation at the White House, Kirby, using the North’s recognized name, told reporters that “our data indicates that the Democratic Peoples ‘ Republic of Korea lately provided Russia with nuclear missile missiles and several balls.”

He continued,” This is a major and concerning increase of the DPRK’s support for Russia,” and he urged the US Congress to approve an important military aid package for Ukraine.

In exchange for telescope expertise, Pyongyang was accused by both Washington and Seoul of shipping weapons for use in Ukraine after Kim met with Vladimir Putin, the president of Moscow, in the far west of Russia in September.
