SEOUL: According to state media KCNA on Sunday( Jun 4 ), North Korea criticized the UN Security Council for holding a meeting on its most recent satellite launch in response to” robbery demands” from the US. It vowed to continue rejecting sanctions and taking” self-defensive” action.
Next year, the US requested a UNSC meeting to discuss North Korea’s unsuccessful attempt to launch its first spy satellite, which resulted in the capsule and payload sinking into the ocean.
The meeting, according to Kim Yo Jong, a prominent member of the ruling party and the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jing Un, was yet another indication that the government had become the US’s” political accessory” by caving in to Washington ‘ robbery demands’ and ignoring the nation of its right to space development.
In a statement released by KCNA, Kim stated,” I am very insulted that the UNSC constantly criticizes our exercise of sovereign right as the United States wants, and I strongly condemn and reject this as being the most unfair, discriminatory work of interfering in domestic affairs and infringing our independence.”
According to her, Pyongyang has accused the United States and its allies of rekindling tension with their yearly spring military drills. She claimed that the satellite launch was a” legitimate, self-defending countermeasure” against these growing threats.
