North Korea says successfully tested multiple-warhead missile

State media reported on Thursday ( Jun 27 ) when North Korea claimed to have successfully tested its multiple-waffed missile capability as dozens more trash-laden balloons from Pyongyang made their way to the South.

Relations between the two Koreas are at one of their worst in decades, with Pyongyang increasing weapons tests and bombarding South Korea with garbage balloons, which it claims are in retaliation for earlier missives that campaigners in the South have sent northward.

On Wednesday, the balloon launches briefly prompted the closure of Seoul’s main airport, Incheon Airport. In response to the subsequent launches, South has completely resumed propaganda loudspeaker broadcasts and live-fire drills close to the border.

North Korea claimed on Thursday that it had” successfully conducted the separation and guidance control test of individual mobile warheads,” according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA ).

The” split portable weapons were guided properly to the three coordinate goals” during the check, carried out the day before, it said.

The exam is intended to secure the MIRV capability, according to KCNA, referring to the many freely targetable reentry vehicle technologies, such as the ability to launch numerous warheads on a single ballistic missile.

South Korea’s army had earlier said the North’s check on Wednesday appeared to be of a hypersonic missile, but that the start ended in a late- air explosion.

More dust than regular appeared to emerge from the weapon, raising the possibility of fire issues, the national said, adding it may have been powered by strong refrigerants.

The test was carried out using the second level website of an intermediate-range solid-fuel nuclear weapon within a 170km to 200km radius, according to KCNA.

Anti-air radar even verified the effectiveness of a fake that was separated from the missile, it said.

According to Hong Min, a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification, the ultimate goal of nations seeking ICBM-level rockets to have nuclear weapons is to acquire multiple-warhead missile systems.

He told AFP that it appears that the North is “testing like technology over the long haul.”

They appear to be working on advanced technology while multiple-head missile growth is still in its earlier stages.
